Kumano Hongu Taisha&Dorokyo Visit Water Jet Boat(No Lunch)
On this tour, we will visit 2 world heritage sites and experience unique landscapes. Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine is one of Kumano's three most important shrines. Along with the other two shrines, Hongu Taisha and Nachi Taisha, Hayatama Taisha played an important role in Japanese mythology. While the buildings were rebuilt recently, Hayatama Taisha has occupied the same spot on the Kumano riverbank since at least the 12th century. In fact, a Shinto myth claims that three kami (Shinto deities) descended to earth on a rock not far from the shrine.
Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine is one of the Kumano region's three most famous shrines. As well as enshrining its own deity, Hongu Taisha also enshrines the deities of the other two Kumano shrines, Hayatama Taisha and Nachi Taisha, and the sun goddess Amaterasu. It serves as the head shrine of over 3,000 Kumano shrines across Japan.
Dorokyo is a gorge on the Kitayama-gawa river. It is famous for its steep cliffs, clear emerald waters and unique rock formations. Travelling by jet boat is a fun and easy way to experience this natural treasure from the water. The colours of the lush forests along the way reflect the changing seasons beautifully.
